Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update might start going out on August 9

Yesterday Microsoft started rolling out the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to computers running Windows 10. That wasn't surprising, as August 2 was the officially announced date for the update's start. However, in its blog post on the matter, the company said the corresponding Anniversary Update for phones running Windows 10 Mobile would be out "in the coming weeks", with nothing more specific unfortunately.

So if you're one of the few people who have a Windows 10 handset, you may be wondering when to expect the latest OS version to hit. It turns out that could happen next week, if a now-deleted tweet by Microsoft's Lumia India account had accurate information.

In this communication, the company's representatives for the subcontinent said the Anniversary Update for Windows 10 Mobile would be out on August 9, which is next Tuesday. Since the tweet saying this was deleted in the meantime, there's a chance that the date was wrong. On the other hand, it could just be that the account shouldn't have revealed the date yet. So there's a slim chance that the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update rolls out on August 9, but you probably shouldn't hold your breath.
