Two new Fire TV devices by Amazon leaked, revealing an expansion of the streaming portfolio. A new Fire TV with an HDMI cable sticking out will arrive as a mid-range device, while a set-top box in the shape of a cube will be the high-end model by Amazon.
Similar to the Chromecast by Google, the mid-tier Fire TV will support 4K HDR video, meaning the current Fire TV Stick will stay as the affordable option since it streams only in Full HD resolution. This device will have 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU and Mali-450MP graphics unit. The RAM will be 2 GB while the storage will be 8 gigs.
The flagship Fire TV device should essentially combine the functionality of Fire TV and Echo Dot. It has holes on top for far-field microphones to talk to Alexa without the need of a remote. If for some other reason you decide to use a remote, there is an IR transmitter. The gadget should have additional ports for Ethernet and more storage, but the information is scarce.
Sources suggest prices for the midfield Fire TV of around $60-$80 while the cube might cost more than $100.
