The vivo X30 and X30 Pro will have a telephoto camera promising up to 60x hybrid zoom. That may sound like a marketing gimmick – how good could the quality really be at 60x magnification? These camera samples offer an early look.
The first shot is 0.6x, meaning it was taken by the ultrawide-angle camera. The next is 1x, shot by the main camera. There should be a shot from the phone's 50mm portrait camera too, before switching over to the 5x periscope camera. Then the magnification increases progressively until it hits the advertised 60x.
vivo X30's full zoom range: from 0.6x to 60x
Note that these photos weren’t posted by vivo itself.
The vivo X30 will be unveiled on December 16, until then there’s a steady stream of teasers. The latest official video shows a wireless screen-sharing feature. It allows you to invite someone to a watch a video with you or watch you play a game.
This is more advanced than simple screen sharing, though, you can also let the other person take control – this is good for letting them scroll through TikTok, but it looks like the latency will be too high to let them play a real-time game like that (but they could offer help in puzzle games, for example).
It’s not quite clear from the video if this feature will be local (i.e. over Wi-Fi) or if it will be able to leverage the 5G connectivity of the vivo X30 duo. Also, this feature may be ported over to other phones that upgrade to JoviOS, which will be introduced with the X30.
