Oppo has put out two teasers for a July 22 event (that's tomorrow) that will detail the company's 125W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging and how it leverages AI to optimize the charging process.
Oppo unveiled 125W charging exactly 1 year ago in July, but the tech hasn't made it to an commercial smartphone just yet. Oppo claimed its 125W charging can get a 4,000mAh battery from 0% to 41% in 5 minutes and all the way to 100% in 20 minutes.
It's unclear exactly what part the AI will play in the charging process, but it's likely it will have something to do with maintaining battery longevity. These hyper-fast charging methods take their toll on the battery capacity - Xiaomi's 200W solution degrades about 20% in 2 years of charging.
Stay tuned for Oppo's announcement tomorrow.
