Three weeks after the 4G version of the Galaxy A22 arrived in India, the 5G model follows. It is available in two versions, one with 6GB of RAM and one with 8GB, both have 128 GB storage and a microSD slot. The former model sells for INR 20,000, the latter for INR 22,000. For comparison, the 6/128 GB 4G model is currently INR 18,500 on Amazon.
The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G will be available online through Samsung.com and leading online stores as well as brick and mortar retailers. Here’s the 6 GB model on Samsung.com, for example. Flipkart and Amazon are yet to update their listings at the time of this writing.
By the way, you can’t make a direct a price comparison between the Galaxy A22 and A22 5G – despite sharing a name, the two phones are quite different. A quick comparison shows a 6.6” LCD on the 5G model vs. 6.4” Super AMOLED on the 4G one, both 90 Hz panels, but it’s 720p for the 5G and 1080p for the 4G phone and a Dimensity 700 5G chipset vs. Helio G80. While both have 48 MP main cams, the 5G model has a 5 MP ultra wide camera instead of 8 MP, the selfie cams are different too. There are a few other changes as well.
We have a Galaxy A22 5G unit at the office and we will be publishing a full review very soon, so stay tuned for our detailed report on how the phone performs. We’ll note here that Samsung is promising 2 years of OS updates for the 5G model.
PS. the Galaxy A22 5G became available in Europe earlier this month at a price of €230. Also note that the A22 5G may also launch as the Galaxy F42 5G in some regions.
